Mental Make-Up
Mental Make-Up constitutes a research into the eight main personality types identified by Carl Jung. The framework for Jung’s typology has a mandala configuration, a squared circle divided into four with a cross radiating to or from the centre, carrying the promise of balance, union and the connection of opposites. For Jung, the mandala was an expression of the psyche and a symbol of self-realisation and individuation.
Rocío, together with Catarina Garcia, delved into this research, taking into account the graphic references of Jung’s study and bringing them into the space. Mental Make-Up explores the possible changes from one personality type to another, and the effects that these changes have on the relationship between the dancers when they cohabit in a small delimited space.
This work was supported by Companhia Instavel and Teatro Campo Alegre (Portugal), and presented in Teatro Campo Alegre in 2018.
