About me

Rocío Dominguez is a dance artist originally from Argentina, based in Dublin.

She graduated as Interpreter and Contemporary Dancer from Escuela de Danza Albalutecia (ARG), and continued her studies doing the Intensive Course in Interpretation and Choreography VI, in Instável Choreographic Centre (PT).

Rocio has worked as dancer, choreographer and assistant choreographer with Junk Ensemble, Luke Murphy, Loosysmokes, Alexandre Iseli, Anna Newell Theatre Company, BrokenCrow Theatre Company, Croí Glan Integrated Dance, Loosysmokes contemporary circus company, Polina Kremasta and Joclecio Azevedo among others, in Ireland, Portugal, France, Italy, The Netherlands, Greece and Argentina. Rocio is the founder and co-curator of the Irish platform for international training Train With One

Rocio has created the pieces MANY MEs (Black Box Theatre, Galway, 2024, and Teatro Leal, Tenerife, 2022), "Don't Stop And You Won't Notice" (Dance Ireland, Dublin, 2023), Suspension (Smock Alley Theatre, Boy's School, Dublin, 2023), War (Faculty of Architecture of Porto 2018), and Mental Make-Up (co-created with Catarina Garcia, Teatro Campo Alegre 2018). Other recent work includes artistic director, line producer and mentor for Ages in Stages, a community project with children and teenagers in Tipperary County (IRE), as well as mentoring the senior students of Dublin Youth Dance Company for their final year pieces.

Awards

Rocio has been supported through awards and residencies from the Arts Council of Ireland, Dublin City Council, Dance Ireland, Shawbrook, Dance Limerick, Dance Cork Firkin Crane, Galway Dance, Tipperary Dance, Dance Base Scotland, Tenerife Lav, and Ensimismados (Costa Rica). She has been selected as a guest artist for Artists' Encounter, Spring Forward Festival Aerowaves in Dublin 2023, and as International Artist in Residency for the program Between Us/Eadrainn between Ireland and Scotland, 2023. Rocio was Associate Artist for Tipperary Dance in 2022, and has received the first fellowship by Tipperary Dance from 2018 to 2019.
